On Monday, for the Union home minister Amit Shah launched the laddu distribution scheme for pregnant women in his constituency for Gandhinagar of Gujarat. It being Lord Krishna’s birthday (Janmashtami), Amit Shah emphasised that Krishna’s child form is considered a model for the healthy child, and that no country can progress until its children were healthy. In that direction, approximate 7,000 expecting women in Gandhinagar will be provided 15 nutritious laddus for each through voluntary organizations for every month, till the birth of their child, said Mr. Shah.

Emphasizing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan for ‘Sahi Poshan, Desh Roshan, said Shah – in three years, approximate 75 million pregnant women or 30 million lactating mothers have been given the 180 doses for each of the folic acid supplement. He added that Anganwadi and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers have been given around 860,000 smart-phones. Mr. Shah said, in the democracy, an individual is the first and the smallest unit by adding these schemes becomes meaningless if the beneficiaries remain a weak.
