In the pandemic situation, unpredictable is one word to explain everything. The tech industry is most booming again and will continue to grow, so why not find a job that you can grow with. Various Companies are looking to hiring more long-term positions and want to find candidates who are willing to work. Here is some list of the best tech jobs in 2022.

Data scientist

In the 21st century’, data science jobs are not latest and emerging like other tech jobs including cloud computing engineers (more on them later), and machine learning engineers, but they are still the hidden gem within any company and will continue to be.

Several businesses and organizations collect and use more data for daily; the demand for skilled experts has skyrocketed. With opportunities to work in practically every sector and industry, from IT to manufacturing, entertainment to healthcare, it is the responsibility of data scientists to compile, process, analyze and present data for the organization in order for it to make more informed decisions.

For instance, in this month, six undergraduate students from the School of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (CSAM) and the School of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) at Wits University took part in a virtual event for the ISC Student Cluster Competition above 82 other students from around the world.

In currently, they were tasked with testing or optimizing for the various applications used by scientists and researchers in the analysis of COVID-19 data in real time or effects of global warming around in the world. Students were also given two additional advanced coding challenges by the judges to assess whether they could successfully adapt to the fast-changing world of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Degree: To stand out in the field of data science, a solid understanding for data science and analytics is vital. A relevant postgraduate degree in computational and data science, applied mathematics and e-science from Wits University develops students’ data-driven knowledge and technical skill sets.

Robotics engineer

Latest technology continues to develop at a rapid pace, robotics engineers are having to constantly analyze, configure, reevaluate, test and maintain for the prototypes, integrated software’s, robotic components, and machines they create for the mining, manufacturing and automotive service industries, among those others. It’s a highly technical job which requires patience and rational thinking.

Upcoming next few years, it is likely that we will see a number of new and innovative ways in which modern technologies to help society and business function for particularly in healthcare.

Degree: A master’s in robotics and computer science will set you up with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to break into the field for robotics engineering.

Cloud engineer

In last few months ago, cloud computing has become a must-have for those working remotely. At the same time, organizations have been frantically hiring those with the skills and knowledge who can migrate processes, implement for the necessary infrastructures or perform cloud-related tasks.

Cloud engineers are often titled under different roles, such as cloud developers, solutions architects and sysops engineers. For example, the roles and responsibilities will vary, but the overall responsibility for the cloud engineer is to plan, monitor and manage an organization’s cloud system, like Microsoft 365, Google Cloud, and Slack and many more.

Degree: in recently, tech careers are required a postgraduate degree always along with the relevant professional experience. Students who study the MSc in Computer Science at Wits University can study a range of electives such as (but not limited to), high performance computing and robotics, adaptive computation, multi-agent systems, scientific data management and machine learning, and human computer interaction.

Machine learning engineer

The very specific branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is ideal with the passion for computer science and desire a career in very faster-moving and exciting industry.

Machine learning (ML) engineers use big data to create complex algorithms to ultimately program a machine (like a self-driving car and digital voice assistant) in order to perform and carry out tasks such as human. Economic forecasting, image recognition and natural language processing (NLP) are implemented so that the machine can learn and improve without human interference.

Degree: Artificial Intelligence and computer science is a must, with a master’s degree also essential. At Wits University for both the  MSc in Computational and MSc in Artificial Intelligence  and Applied Mathematics offer pioneering curriculums where students develop an in-depth understanding of data visualization, natural language technology, and computational intelligence in order to analyze problems and create meaningful solutions.

UX designer

User experience (UX) designers are concerned with the “behind-the-scenes” design to ensuring the software, websites and apps meet the consumers’ habits, behaviors, motivations, and needs. With lots of businesses turning on the digital platforms to promote and sell of their products and services, it is never been so important to ensure the user journey and experience is the best it can be.

Degree:  A relevant undergraduate degree like computer science is needed, while a postgraduate degree is desirable also. Professional experience is a must too.
